Bluestacks American technology company that produces the BlueStacks App Player and other cloud-based cross-platform products. BlueStacks App Player is designed to run Android applications on PCs running Windows and Macintosh computers. The company was founded in 2009 by Rosen Sharma, a former technical director of McAfee and a member of the board of directors of Cloud.com.
Investors are Andreessen-Horowitz, Redpoint, Samsung, Intel, Qualcomm, Citrix, Radar Partners, Ignition Partners, AMD and others. BlueStacks is Sharma's eighth company (five Sharma companies were acquired by Google, Microsoft, Citrix X 2 and McAfee). BlueStacks came out of beta on June 7, 2014.
The company was officially founded on May 25, 2011 at the Citrix Synergy conference in San Francisco. Citrix CEO Mark Templeton showed off an early version of BlueStacks on the scene and announced that the companies have entered into a partnership agreement. The public alpha version of App Player was launched on October 11, 2011.
App Player is a downloadable piece of software for Windows and Mac that virtualizes all Android features. The software can be downloaded and used for free, it later disconnects itself and provides users with the opportunity to install sponsorship apps or purchase a premium subscription for $ 2 a month. In April 2015, BlueStacks, Inc. announced that the new version of App Player for Mac OS was in development. In July 2015, BlueStacks, Inc. has released a new version for Mac OS.
GamePop was launched on May 9, 2013. It uses a subscription model. Users receive paid games worth over $ 250 by subscription. This allows users to play up to 500 mobile games on TV. On July 23, 2014, Samsung announced that it had invested and supported the GamePop. This led to a total of $ 26 million in foreign investment in BlueStacks. BlueStacks, Inc., which began to more actively improve its App Player, in 2015 stopped developing GamePop, planning to improve the product later.
